Destilaria da Ribeira is one of the most recent distilleries in the "freguesia" of Marmelete, in which the owner installed two 120-liter boilers. This cellar has metal "pilões" (big pestles), as required by the rules, but are wrapped with wood, in order to resemble the old ones. In this cellar it is possible to watch the distillation process of the "medronho" mass, as it has been done for generations, and it is slowly produced one of the genuine arbutus brandies of Serra de Monchique.
